DelFest Academy is a unique opportunity for bluegrass enthusiasts to learn from some of the most accomplished musicians in the industry. The Academy takes place the Sunday through Wednesday prior to the DelFest festival and provides an intensive four-day learning experience.
Instructors for the Academy include Rob McCoury, Ronnie McCoury, Jason Carter, Alan Bartram, Cody Kilby, Kenny Smith, Lauren Price, Leanna Price, Ronnie Bowman, Garnet Bowman, Ashby Frank, Gaven Largent, and Cory Walker. These all-star instructors provide individualized lessons to students of all levels on guitar, banjo, fiddle, mandolin, bass, and dobro.
The Academy is designed to be a friendly and encouraging environment, where students can learn and grow at their own pace. With plenty of one-on-one interaction, students can target their individual needs and get the most out of their experience.
Each day begins with a morning jam session by the instructors, followed by a brief Q & A. The individual classes break off from there. Class schedules vary but students can expect one-on-one instruction, class instruction, mixed instrument classes, and vocal classes. Everyone’s favorite segment is Bluegrass Karaoke, where students perform their favorite song with the instructors as their backing band. Another favorite is the Band Scramble where students are assigned a group number to form a band for the chance to perform on the Grandstand Stage at sound check on Thursday night!
DelFest Academy is a must-attend for anyone looking to take their bluegrass skills to the next level. Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to learn from some of the best in the industry.
