Kentucky native Sam Bush was recently honored by his home state for his contributions to newgrass music and invited to perform on the Senate floor. It’s the latest achievement for this distinguished mandolinist, who helped originate the newgrass style via his influential band New Grass Revival before forging a colorful solo career. He is a frequent collaborator of Bela Fleck, David Grsman, Emmylou Harris and others and has appeared on ablums by such stars as Alison Krauss, Dolly Parton, Lyle Lovett, Ricky Skaggs, Doc Watson and many more. In 2007 he was invited to host the International Bluegrass Music Association Awards where he won IBMA mandolin Player of the Year. This will be Sam’s third appearance at DelFest.
